Summer Workout - 6/26

6 Groups / 6 stations / 7 minutes per station (2 rounds w/ short break between rounds for drill change)

Kids can carry water with them through the stations so it's readily accessible.

Note:  

Some of the drills may move quickly depending on group size. I've added notes with ideas on how to vary or progress drills to keep the kids engaged and prevent burnout or boredom. 

That said, confidence is built through repetition—so if the drill is working and the reps are helping, you can stick with it. Use your judgment at your station to run it how you see fit. 

If you have an idea for an alternate drill, feel free to mix it up half way through the station.

Round 1
17:30 - 18:12
Thigh Switch | Station 1 - Basic sprint form & acceleration

Start out with singles, progress to doubles, then triples. Have kids work the thigh switch for 5-10 yds, then sprint for 10

Change of Direction Drill | Station 2 - Footwork, Change of Direction

Run thru drill and emphasize footwork / agility technique, change direction, progress to ball security

Tennis Ball Zig Zag | Station 3 - Hand-Eye Coordination, Footwork, Change of Direction

Rep through this one or change to a tennis ball chase-down race half-way through

OL - 1v1 Speed Pull | Station 4 - Focus on footwork, speed, & technique

Start with just the movement, progress to blocking pad

LB - Bags to Angle Tackle Drill | Station 5 - Footwork, tackling form & technique

Work left, right, uphill, and downhill - focus on form and technique

Gap Faceoff | Station 6 - Agility, Reaction Time

Rep this one out or change to a 1v1 cone drill half-way thru station

QB, RB, WR, TE - Arm Tackle Breaks | Station 1 - Footwork, Acceleration, & Ball Protection

Start with just carrying the ball, progress to catch, then work the breaks (work in both directions)

QB, RB, WR, TE - Jump Cut Reaction Tree | Station 2 - Footwork & Change of Direction, Ball Protection

Start with just the strip and step-over bags, progress to add jump cut after step-over bags

Progress by adding ball security at the first turn

Coach basic pass blocking, then progress to a partner mirror drill
